Eco Planet Cleaning has officially been in business since 2016. Prior to that, the team did cleaning, maintenance, and property management work under other company names, dating all the way back to 2001. It’s a small, family business, founded by immigrants to Canada, that has grown to a competitive, industry-leading level, without becoming overly “corporate”. The owner, Djuro Celic, came to Vancouver with the understanding that providing something to the community and overall environment that we inhabit, such as eco-friendly cleaning solutions for everyday living, was really important. We have a team of janitorial technicians that make sure residential and commercial properties are a clean and safe space for people to live and work from. Our cleaning solutions are void of the harsh chemicals commonly found in mainstream cleaning brands. Our eco-friendly solutions also have recyclable packaging, making it easier for us to achieve the level of sustainability that we’re committed to.

We worked very hard on prioritizing and protecting the safety of our current and new clients by offering disinfecting services. The systems and solutions that we use are government-approved to fight against COVID. We’ve always used nitrile gloves—even before the pandemic. All of our workers wear these as well as new, reusable masks. We’ve also been using our government-approved COVID cleaning solution, which ensures all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned.

In terms of our eco-friendly cleaning services, for now we have stepped away from doing carpet cleaning inside residences that are occupied at this time. This is for the safety of our staff and for the people that are living there. It’s unfortunate, but in order to be safe, we have to make sure that we take all the necessary precautions.

We can sell it directly to customers, yes! There’s about 10 different products that we use regularly. The solution actually gets poured into bottles and diluted with water, and there is a little numbering system for how many ounces you’re using. We recognize that every situation and every problem is going to be different, and every solution is going to be different for that problem. Our CEO, Djuro, gives donations to a Serbian dance folk group, as well as donations for multicultural days at S.U.C.C.E.S.S, who offer support to Canadian newcomers. We have also worked with our marketing team by donating individual pre-packaged treats to do something fun for Halloween in our community, to bring a bit of normalcy back for the local kids. We hope that in 2021 we can give back to our community and offer some lighthearted relief from the negative impact the pandemic has had on this year with food drives, clothing drives or donations to local charities in Vancouver.

Being eco-friendly has been our “trademark” since 2001. Here in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland we’re surrounded by greenery, and we want to make sure that our environment is sustained. Using our eco-friendly solutions and methods is important for our everyday lives. These products and methods are used in both residential and commercial buildings, and ensure the safety of our community and those within the spaces. We want to protect elderly people who may be sensitive to smells or certain harsh chemicals, or children who might touch something and then put their hands in their mouth.
